Ships of the Port of London, 1st to 11th centuries AD

Published by English Heritage in 1994.

This volume, largely written for my D.Phil degree at Oxford University, describes the Roman and Saxon boats and ships that have been found in London, and links them to what is known of the quays and trade goods found in the port. They include a detailed description of the Blackfriars ship 1 of about 150AD and the County Hall ship of about 300AD, and with the fragmentary remains of late Saxon vessels of the 10th and 11th centuries.
